FAN youth project...

In 2007 we started a FAN Youth Project. Fitzalan High School and Howell's School, agreed to take part. You can download an outline of the introductory workshop by clicking here. The students have started a FAN Group in both schools. Here are:-

The Youth FAN Groups Guidelines
Essential to running a group...
1. Try to make everyone who comes feel welcome.
2. Remind everyone before you start, that the Group is about listening.
3. No-one should answer or give an opinion or ask a question when it is someone else's turn to speak.
4. The student starting can read one line each of the opening then each person can read one line.
5. They may be shy - but try to encourage someone different to start the meeting each week.
6. It can be a good idea for people in the Group to say 'thanks' to the student who started the meeting - or tell them you enjoyed it.

Always remember that FAN Groups were set up so that everyone can feel part of the community and so that we can find the good things in every one of us.

Probably 16 is the maximum number for a Group. If you regularly have more than this you should think of starting a second group.

Perhaps a sheet could be put up for students to sign which date they will attend a FAN Group Meeting. If a sheet was put up on a notice board for each week of the Term - interested students could sign all of them or sign for one week and not another.
